After the defeat of the dragons' armies, those kobolds who escaped the slaughter were scattered. Many retreated underground, hoping to elude the vengeful blades of their victorious enemies. But others remained on the surface, unwilling to relinquish their foothold in that realm. They carved out lairs in the wilderness, and festered like infected wounds.
